Digital IP – where do we stand?

I was at the IT4Arts seminar yesterday at BAC which had several excellent speakers discussing IP online. This is quite grey area at the moment, and with digital content (video, audio, images etc…) popping up every second of every day all over the web, arts organisations really need to know where they stand on their ownership rights. I ceratinly had a few areas of confusion cleared up. For exapmle, did you get that photographer that took the lovely photos of your building to sign over the licencing rights to you? In writing? Turns out a financial transaction isn’t enough to claim owenrship in the eyes of the law…

I particularly enjoyed the session by Justin Spooner and Simon Hopkins from Double Shot consulting, which discussed the impact of IP laws on creativity. You can find out more about these guys on their website here.
